Privacy policy

Last updated: July 23, 2026

This Site is built and operated from Ontario, Canada, and follows Canada's federal private-sector privacy law (PIPEDA). The short version: we collect very little, and your tool data — circles, ledgers, journals, quiz profiles — never reaches our servers at all. It stays in your browser's local storage, on your device. That's not a compliance workaround; it's the actual architecture, and we think it's worth being proud of.

What we collect

No tracking cookies, no banner

We don't use tracking cookies or store anything on your device for analytics, so there's no cookie-consent banner to click through — our analytics provider, Umami, doesn't need one. If that ever changes — for example, if we add a YouTube embed, an advertising pixel, or any tool that does use cookies — this page will be updated first, and this sentence will no longer apply.

Opt out of analytics

If you'd rather not be counted at all, even in aggregate, you can opt out below. This stores a single flag on your device for that purpose only — nothing else is written, read, or shared as a result.

Who processes your data

If you subscribe, your email is processed by Kit (formerly ConvertKit) under their own privacy and security practices. We do not sell, rent, or share your email with advertisers. Aggregate, anonymous analytics are processed by Umami under their own privacy practices — see the Analytics bullet above for exactly what that includes. Contact and EMDR practitioner-access submissions are delivered by Web3Forms, and the EMDR access-code system itself runs on our own Cloudflare Worker.

Contact form and EMDR practitioner enquiries

Messages sent through our contact form or the EMDR practitioner-access request form (name, email, professional role, and any message or optional registration body you submit — we do not collect licence or registration numbers) are delivered by a third-party form service, Web3Forms, under their own privacy and security practices. These submissions are not added to any mailing list — they go to us as a one-time message, not a subscription. This data is not sold or shared with advertisers, and you can ask us to delete it via our contact page at any time.

Retention for EMDR access requests: a request's record is deleted from our Cloudflare Worker once its access code is issued or the code is later revoked. If a request never results in a code being issued, we delete the record within 30 days regardless.

A note on health-related pages

Some pages on this Site are about specific feelings and conditions, so a page address alone can suggest a health-related interest. We keep our analytics aggregate and deliberately un-linkable: no accounts, no user IDs, no cross-site or cross-device tracking, no profiles, and nothing you type into a tool. We do not sell or share this information with anyone, and we keep it for no longer than 13 months.

No ads, no data sale

Lemonade does not display third-party ads and does not sell personal data to anyone, ever.

Your rights & how to reach us

Under PIPEDA, you can ask what personal information (such as a subscribed email) we hold about you, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Contact privacy@thelemonadeguide.com for any such request; we aim to respond within a week. To clear your locally-stored tool data yourself at any time, use a tool's built-in "reset" option, or clear your browser's site data for this domain.

If you're outside Canada

This Site is operated from Ontario, Canada, and our baseline is Canada's federal private-sector privacy law (PIPEDA). If you're in the UK, the EU, or California, some additional rights may apply to you, and we'll honour them regardless of where you are:
